XC70 to buy or not to buy?

Going to look at 1998 cross country turbo this afternoon. Has high milage (salesmens car) of 150,000, and price is a negotiable $8000.00. It is supposedly in great condition and owner said small oil leak (probably just seal or gasket) and needs front brakes (big deal can do that myself in half an hour) so will negotiate.

I have only owned rear wheel volvo with classic 4 cylinder. Does anyone have any idea if this is one to stay away from or go for?
