I have a 1995 855 Turbo that recently had a new fuel pump installed. During the service, the shop noted that both radiator hoses looked a little worn and recommended replacement. Opting to do this job myself, I first replaced the easier top hose and clamps. I held off replacing the lower one until a warmer day came along (I have no garage), and drove the car in about 40 degree F weather for a week with no problems. The warm winter day finally did arrive (a high of about 60F), but before I got around to replacing the lower hose, I drove the car in traffic, doing errands and started to hear a grinding, spraying noise like a hose leak or possibly a dry pump. The temp. gauge registered slightly higher than normal, but not in the red zone. I pulled over and popped the hood and found a small amount of coolant puddled on top of the A/C unit hose on the left side of the engine, and small drops on various other components in this region. The likely candidate is the top radiator hose, but it is brand new and the clamps seemed tight. There was no visible leak from either of the hoses, and a check of the coolant level later on revealed a negligible drop in the level.
Sorry for the saga.....any thoughts?
