Tranny issues....help! 850

This started happening today-

When I go to accelerate and I get a 2 gear down shift (heavier acceleration) the the car seems to hesitate, then bump into gear hard....it jerks the car. Anyone know what this is, how much its going to cost me, and how soon do I need to address this problem? My reliable Volvo repair guy is in another state.....

BTW- Avoid getting anything worked on in New Jersey- they are out to get you here....especially if you have an out-of-state tag- the bastards!
