Urgent - Emision Code #4 EM G1 V70-XC70 1998

Over at Bay 13, there is a sheet which breaks down the VIN and explains what each digit or grouping in the VIN refers to.

I am in the process of purchasing a 98 V70, and the digit that represents the Emission Code (#4) translates as "EM G1"

Can any one tell me what this means, and whether it is equipped for CA emissions?? (purchasing from AZ)

PS - The reason for the urgency is that I am supposed to leave home @ 3:00am Sat morning to make the trip to AZ... would like to know ahead of time if there is a problem with this.
