Parking Brake Sticking On 850

I've recently noticed that my parking brake is sticKing in the on position in a morning. Basically, it feels like a couple of rocks have been put behind my backwheels when reversing out of the drive.

Has anyone had experience of this same problem and if so is it likely to be the cable or the brake mechanism itself. If its the cable how difficult is it to strip and lube.
