Hi all,
I have a '99 S70 which has a peculiar problem with idling. Under any road condition, the engine frequently idles roughly after I take my foot off of the accelerator. I have a manaual transmission, and, invariably, the clutch is on the floor. Approximately 3 - 4 times a week, the engine will actually die.
Ususally, this just gives the guys at the office fodder for hurling insults about my car :), but recently it nearly put me into the ditch as the power steering snapped my wheel straight and the road continued to curve!
I assumed that a belt device (A/C, power steering, power brakes) might be causing the intermittent rough idle, but I cannot find a correlation. The rough idle condition has been apparent for a few years, but has only recently caused the engine to stall.
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas how I might diagnose the problem?
Thanks!
Mike
