wiper motor? 850 1995

I have a 95 turbo and my wipers stopped working. I took it in they said it was the transmission, got it fixed and still not working. I know a little about cars so i'm thinking i'll fix it myself. I just want to know the difficulty, what I need to look out for, the tools and what I can do to make sure it is the motor, because I can hear it working, so i'm thinking maybe the arms are stripped. Are there any quick remedies?
