SeeSawing Idle !!!

The fun thing about Volvo's is that they seem to be
an on going project. Well next thing to attack is
my seesawing idle [ slowely uppp and downnn ]between 900 and 1000
rpm's. Sounds like a ghost in a machine.
This has been going on for about 2 years and happens about
one in every four days or so not everyday. Engine is great otherwise.
Key is it does'nt happen everyday.

Had a intermittent CEL about a for awhile till I found it was my marginal MAF sensor and changed it.
That fixed the CEL. Changed spark plugs and no difference and tried
a few other things also. Next try is cleaning the ETM out.
Another c70 owner here is having the same problem.

Also the car cold starts hard when season temps go below about 60 degrees.
Need to prime the fuel pump by " double pumping " [ turn ignition from step I
to step II and again step I to step two ]. Have been doing this in the fall and
winter for the past two years. Figured car is getting older.
Do these newer ' fly by wire " cars have the same fuel pressure relays
that seem to go on the 850's?

Any guesses and things to try before the ETM cleaning?

thx
