No more Volvo S80 1999

Well, after 2 1/2 years with our 99 S80 T6 we parted ways this weekend. We paid $34,000 as it had 24,000 on it as a lease back. After $6000 in non-routine repairs in 73,000 miles of driving, at my expense (not counting the warranty repairs) including the latest, a $2000 repair bill for the transmission, we traded it in for a 2003 Honda Odyssey. The Volvo dealer, Calabasas Motorcars was no help whatsoever. Service was ok but they would not budge on helping us out of this car. We asked if they would give us a break on a 2002 model, but to no avail. We complained to Volvo, no help. To Volvo's credit, they did replace the gas tank when it sprung a leak or I would have paid another $1000.

The car only brought $9000 as a trade in although Kelly BB said $14,000. The Honda dealer said that they called several Volvo dealers and that is all they would give for it. We held our ground for awhile but eventually gave in. I believe it since the car is on the 10 most cars to avoid list. I could have shopped around to get the best trade in or sold it privately, but I'm so sick of the car I just wanted to dump it. Besides, on the way to the Honda dealer (and just out of the trans shop), the power steering started making noises and we heard a few unidentifiable bangs in the back of the car going down the freeway! So, chaulk it up to experience. Never again will I buy a Volvo or a first year car, thanks Volvo for teaching me that.

Good riddance!
