Screwed up 2003 S80 S80

Glad this didn't happen to me I would be going ballistic on the Volvo Service Rep. A friend of my brothers bought a 2003 S80 2.9. Over the 4 months he has owned it he has complained of a lack of power. The car just never had the power it should have. They said they test drove the car and it ran as it should. Well they finally decided at this dealer not to blow him off this time and actually look to see if there was really a problem. Well the dealer found the problem that was causing the lack of power. He only had 5 running cylinders. The exhaust valve on one of the cylinders I think he told me that it had a broken spring and retaining clip. What ever it was it was causing the valve to bounce up and down on top of the piston. So it screwed up the piston and the head. The dealer told him that they would repair it. Repair it!! He wants a new Engine not a fixed engine on a 4 month old $39K car. They told him Volvo was only going to pay for the repair not a new engine. What he is going nuts over is this power problem was there from day one. That was me and these idiots had blown me off for 4 months then told me they were going to fix it as cheaply as possible there would be court papers served within three days on that dealer. I would be demanding a new car not a new engine. Ever since Volvo was bought by Ford, customer service has totally gone into the toilet.
