Remote Door Lock Sensor 850 1997

Recently my remote door lock sensor started working sporadically. Sometimes the doors will unlock sometimes they won't. I've changed the batteries in both remote sensors but no improvements. Has anyone experienced this? Where is the receiving unit in the car (perhaps that needs cleaning)?
