Won't jump start another car 850 1995

A friend who owns a 1984 240 asked for a battery jump start from my 1995 850 Turbo. I hooked up the jumper cables but my car didn't have enough juice to jump start the 240. Tried reving my car up and letting it stay on for 15 minutes but it didn't help. Friend with a Ford truck stopped by and the 240 started immediately. I am curious why my car couldn't get the 240 battery enough juice so it could start. Any ideas?
