Steering rack replacement V70-XC70 1998

I have a '98 V70 T5 with a leaking steering rack. It started with an occasional whine and is now to the point where I have to add fluid any time I drive it. My local shade tree mechanic says the rack is bad. I have ordered a used one and plan on installing it myself but don't have much experience with Volvos or steering systems. Anyone have any words of wisdom?
