Rubber bushing on driveshaft V70-XC70

My mechanic advised me that a rubber bushing(washer..?)on the driveshaft is bad and is causing the draive shaft to be out of balance. I am getting a vibration and a noise that almost sounds as if a heat shield is loose. Unfortunately the heat shield is not the case. He will have to replace that part of the shaft for about $200 plus labor. Not as bad as I first thought this deal was going to be. Think there was any othe damage I should have him look at? Lastly if I do go the route of removing the drive shaft and go FWD only, is the TRACS system affected? Thanks for your help.
BYW I am going to write Volvo and see if they can cover any of this.
