I have recently been through the "tortures of the damned" in trying to get my shuddering brakes fixed. I have purchased a complete set of rotors (brembo) and complete set of pads and the rear shims ( as sold by alloemautoparts). The car was taken to PepBoys (my volvo dealer wouldn't fit parts bought elsewhere) to have these fitted. The car has been back in now five times to try and get rid of this noise which only occurs when braking from under 30 mph and when the car has been run around town for a while. Finally it appears to be fixed, the mechanic told me that Volvo had issued a technical service bulletin for precisely this problem and that it required a special set of shims for the rear brakes and not the set that I had provided. Does anyone know whether this is true, are there in fact two different set of shims for the rear brakes or did he just forget to put them in when he reassembled the car?
Thanks for your help.
