...after about 25-30k care free miles I developed an annoying buzz from both front wheels, the buzzing started very quickly and got progressively worse after a week. I suspected as it turned out to be the wheel bearings! I cost $37.50 for each set of bearings plus about $130.00 labor! This made me wonder though....how long before the rears go??? And, I hope the front last at least as long as the first set or longer. We have had several other Volvos over the years and never changed any bearings, even with much higher milage! The Volvo dealer even said this was unusual for my milage and that this was the first S40 they had done! What causes them to go other than our bad Vermont roads???? Just curious...any folks out there with a similar story???? Ok...one other gripe question! A lot of the new Volvo's, any model are coming out with not just 16" standard wheels but 17 and 18 plus inch wheels! Sure they look nice, but I get the impression that many folks are spilling a lot of coffee on themselves as they "uncomfortably" bump down the road. I get a kick out of the BMW's and Mercedes in the garage in Boston where my mother lives. Some of these cars have 20-22 inch wheels and they drive these baby's into potholes every day??? I know the suspensions are changed...but still they must ride like crap. What ever happened to a comfortable ride that I am sure the consumer wants....sorry to rant, just had to vent..........thanks, Bill
