I am afraid that this is a long message. I live in Northeast and in November, the upshift light started flashing in the dash board and the check engine light started lighting up. Took it to my local mechanic and his initial reaction was to chane the neutral safety switch. But the same day, he said that he changed it on another car and later the dealer recommended replacing the transmission. He told me just warm up the car before driving.
For the past month or so, I have been driving the car with the check engine light but no upshift light. It came on once during a very cold morning and the gear was stuck for a minute or two before it started functioning correctly. The car runs fine but I am worried that the check engine light may be on for reasons other than the pnp switch. If the pnp switch replacement is good on the long run I am ready to cough up $ 300+ to get it done.It has been pretty cold the last weeks here, but the car is running fine.
Any advice tips will be much appreciated. I am not mechanically inclined!!
Thanks
Sam
