Hood latch failure! 850 1993

Just this weekend the hood release failed, and will not open. The lever inside the car moves freely as if it is disconnected. Unfortunately I'm out of washer fluid and with the amount of salt and sand being thrown onto the roads I have to stop frequently to clean the windsheild by hand. Does anyone know what to do in this situation?
