gear downshift S40-V40

After I accelerate over 30 mph and release the gas pedal, I will notice the downshift of the gear around 20mph. If I use brake, I don't notice any downshift at all. My car is a 2000 model with 4 speed auto. Currently it has around 24000 miles and with the original trans oil. Does it consider normal? Or it indicates some tranny problem? If it is, what type problem could it be?
