AWD Differential - Fluid Change? V70-XC70

I recently had a slight problem with my '99 XC (45,000 miles) shifting from 4th to 3rd, especially going up inclines. The dealer, based on a TSB, did a transmission exchange under warranty. It has elliminated the problem. In my opinion, the transmission fluid should be replaced/flushed at 40-50,000 miles regardless of what Volvo recommends.

My question: Should the AWD differential fluid be routinely changes as well? At what mileage and recommended fluid?
