Engine Cuts Out Under Hard Acceleration 850

When I really put my foot into it, my car ('95 850 Turbo) occasionally will just cut out. Like I hit the rev limiter but it's more abrupt. I lift my foot and all is well.
Is there a safe-guard that cuts the motor if an overboosted condition exists? The car runs great otherwise.
