Weird hood latch issue S70 1998

Went to jump a stranded car the other day and noticed that my hood doesn't quite open right. If I pull the release in the cabin it only releases the passenger side. I need to get someone to put light pressure on the driver side (upwards) while I pull the latch (in the cabin) again to get the driver side to release, then it goes up just fine.

Any ideas? (Already tried WD-40 on the latch mechanism)
