I have a 440 turbo diesel and i have turned up the boost pressure to half, the car pulls well,so i decided to go full boost and shut the wastgate fully, just to see what power i could get, suprisingly the car seemed to be less powerfull,
i think the diesel fuel pump can not supply more fuel for the amount of boost pressure now and i was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on advancing the fuel pump timing by say 60 degrees, which hopefully would give me the power i require, also are there any overboost protection switches on the diesel fuel pump which will limit the amount of boost i can apply?
i am also thinking of removing the honeycombe ceramic from the catylitic converter as i have been told these sometimes get clogged up?
the only other thing i have done to the car is to assist in stopping is 17" alloys with 215/45 tyres and fitting disc brakes at the back as the drum brakes were not up to much,i thought i would stop here as i did not fancy fitting the wiring and piping to put an ABS unit in to my car.
all said and done the turbo is set back at half way as at this position it is the best power i can get from the standard setting and until i can find out about advancing the timing and if it will make any diference i will have to settle with what i have achieved so far.
