Leather and Vinyl Treatment/Dash Board Treatment (good/bad/necessary?)

A few basic questions.

1. What are people using to treat their leather? I’m using Lexol, but wonder if it really does any good since modern leather is essentially plastic coated and non-absorbent anyway. I've heard that Leatherique is very good, but again, with non-absorbant leather, how would this help me/us? Any thoughts? Are the “wipes” type cleaners/conditioners any good.

2. What are people using for their Vinyl? I’m currently using the Vinylex (by Lexol) on things like the door panels, but am reluctant to use it or anything on the dash. I’ve heard way to many Armorall horror stories about cracking dashboards after treating with protectant.

Has anybody investigated any of these issues?
