Broken windshield - are there choices of glass available? V70-XC70 1999

Dear Volvo friends,
Please excuse if this has been covered before. My wife's windshield was hit by a big piece of gravel today and cracked. This is a common problem here in Mississippi. Are there any alternatives from which to choose for a replacement windshield, such as special glass to reduce UV transmission or thicker, reinforced glass? Thanks!
