Hello-
Not to be redundant...I've seen several postings for this problem, however I've noticed something with my '93 850GLT that I haven't seen in postings yet.
This car stalls randomly. Sometimes at idle, 30mph, highway speeds, whenever. When it does, I have to give it two to three minutes for whatever reason, then it starts up and runs great. Sometimes it won't happen for weeks, even months. Yesterday it happened twice within 20 minutes (in city traffic, no less...I didn't make any friends yesterday).
Temperature doesn't seem to be a factor, this has happened in all four seasons...although it seems more prone to happen in warmer temps. One very interesting thing here is that I noticed that it happens more often if I run it down to 2 gallons. For quite a while, I was filling my tank at roughly 1/4 tank and that seemed to help.
Recently, Volvo replaced my fuel pump and the stalling became more predictable. It would only happen if I drove it for a while, stopped (say, at a convenience store), shut it off, and restarted, it would idle for about 5 seconds, then stall. Wait 2 minutes, runs great. As of a week ago, it's back to being completely unpredictable and much more frequent than normal (once a day?).
I would be FOREVER in debt to anyone who can help me with this problem.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
