engine cut out 400

I have a 440 xi 1993. Recently the engine has started to cut out while driving at any speed. The engine just dies most alarming at 70 mph. the car coasts to a halt and will restart again almost instantly it then runs perfecly for either only 40yds or up to 350 miles. Anybody got any ideas so far i have changed ht leads ,distributor cap,rotor arm and i have just fitted anew flywheel sensor
I would be grateful for any suggestions also the fault codes.
