Dear Group Experts:
I have just purchase a 1994 850 wagon with an automatic transmission (not turbo) that just started to make an intermittent buzzing noise at highway speeds or when accelerating hard. At highway speeds I can hear a slight click in near the shift level and and the buzzing starts and stops when the car's speed is increased or decreased. The noise is loud and appears to be coming from the driver's side in the engine bay. Sound like a loose piece of metal resonating. The car has 129,000 and has not yet had the fuild change. There is no noise when driving in the city or a low speeds and the transmission shifts very smoothly. The fuild does not appear or smell burnt.
P.S. As I review my service invoice I noticed that the mechanic "tighten the transmission cover" for a small oil leak. What does this cover and would the thing under the cover buzz if over tighten? My mechanic is closed for the week and I do not want drive on the highway with this buzz over the weekend.
A second question is the blower does not engage at the #4 setting. I can hear the same a short hum as with the first three speed, but the blower does not come on or start. The fuse is good. Is there a relay somewhere or a resistor that needs to be replaced? The first three speeds work great and the blower is not making unsual noises. I do not have the auto climate control.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Robert
