Hi,

Last week-end I searched to find the cause of a suspension knock and found that three (3)! of the 5 steering rack bolts were loose. In fact, one was so loose that I could turn it by hand.

I had been noticing some shimmy on acceleration and would occasionally hear the knock on turning. So, I torqued all to spec and the knock is gone and the car steers MUCH better.

My question is why? The track rod ball joints seem good as do the inner and outer CV's. Also the end-link and anti-sway bar bushings are OK.

The car has @52 K. What the heck is going on?
