Hi,
I tried to do a C70 and S70 suspension comparison, for year 2000. This "differences" was compiled using and insurance industries estimation guide book which contains part numbers for each car. See below. But raises some questions:
Q1: Is the support arm for rear C70, part numbers (r) 861842 (l) 860025, the same as 850? If not, how does it differ from S70?
Q2: Was C70 body modified compared to S70 to effect geometry of front or rear suspensions (stiffness I think so, but don't know on geometry).
FRONT SUSPENSION/STEERING
Almost identical across the board, with use of smaller rotor (280mm vs 302mm) version of parts such as engine cradle and insulator.
Font rotor 27227 (the S70 16"wheel part)
Engine Cradle for coupe is 945469, which matches the S70 engine cradle for 280mm brakes. The convertible uses 948049 which is S70 302mm brake one (oddddd).
Front bushing and front insulator are same, insulator is for the 280mm rotors.
Front struts differ, C70 coupe has 919141 S70 has 869990.
Springs are identical.
Steering gear assembly C70 id 946127 (faster gearing than S70)
REAR SUSPENSION
Rear suspension parts are identical, with these exceptions:
Support arm (r) 861842 for C70 vs 946130 S70 (wonder what part number is for 850?). Support arm (l) 860025 for C70 vs 916915 S70
Stabilizer bar Marked V, M, N, P are 919149, 919145, 919146 and 919146 again. For V70 marked W or 2, 915731 920018
Spring 917385 for C70 same as 917385 S70 non-self-leveling.
Any other differences you know of I am interested too.
Thanks,
Carl
