front end clunking


It’s supposed to have some play. The drive axle uses CV joints not U-joints to transfer power to the wheel. The CV joints are mounted in grease and will move some.

When a CV joint (drive axle) goes bad it typically clicks when turning. Or if bad enough it can seize.

Your problem sounds like a bad engine mount to me.
