I have owned and worked on Volvo's since 1981( irst was a 1972 145s 2.0 I bought for $150 not running)
I recently have come across a "new" (to Me) problem
I haven't run into Before when working on these.
My friend Brought his car to me to scan for a check eng Light
I hooked up my snap on scanner to it and did an "all module scan". The only codes that showed up was for TPS sensors. Eng trans UEM Cem Eng Trans, etc.. showed "no codes present". I went to the used Volvo shop I do work for hooked up to his VIDA, but with same result Check Engine Light on with "no codes present" in all systems except for TMPS sensors batteries low ??? we then did updates to the modules via VIDA. and after module updates same thing Ck Eng. light no codes.
The only thing I can think of is a possible open ground in the Dash Head unit.
Has Anyone else out there encountered this problem and if so what did you find.
We also used the professional ( Insurance Company) equivalent to carfax that shows things that carfax doesn't, There were no records of it Being a Flood car. or major accidents, (because it came from Long Island...hurricanes Sandy, Lee Irma,etc...)
Anyhelp on this would be great it's Keeping the car from passing NYS inspection
Thanks in advance Mattharp aka Bentwrench
