Rough riding 855

Just curious, and possibly looking for something to do:

My wagon is extremely rough riding when empty (most of the time). I replaced the rear shocks at 185K, they were completely shot! But because of the strong springs, the ride was still the same - the shocks didn't do any good because the the springs were never compressed. The ride is nice when I put 240lb of salt in the rear.

Because I seldom have more than the driver in the wagon, could I put in sedan springs? I am not worried about the rear sagging for short trips. I just dislike the rattles at lower speeds when going over tar strips and asphalt patches.

I assume the sedan and wagon springs are the same length.
