My 16 year old son has a "new" Volvo basic wagon. I have been teaching him some very basic things on the car. One was an oil change. The oil was filthy. We switched to synthetic with 167,000 on the Wagon. Next we went a little more sophisticated with a complete tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor) and moved most of the equipment around the area to access the cap and rotor. Put everything back together and took it for a spin. Smoke was coming out of engine area, specifically from the dipstick. Not just puffs but the smoke was being pushed up with force. Also, when the Wagon was revved, smoke poured out the tailpipe and smelled a little rich. What did we do to make such a drastic change? Oil change, tune up or both? Thanks
