No electric to fuel pump C70

I was having issues starting my car. It would start and then cut right out. I was told by several men that my fuel pump needed replacing. I spent the weekend replacing the fuel pump. I did remember to disconnect the negative from the battery. It wasn't easy due to the lack of room in the trunk due to the convertible top. Whenever I put the new fuel pump in, it isn't getting any power. I also replaced the fuel pump relay and it didn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
