2003 XC soft brake pedal V70-XC70

The car is a 2003 XC70 with 110,000 miles on it. When the car is cold and sat overnight, upon starting the car the brakes feel soft (spongy and depress futher than normal). After a short driving distance or increase in engine RPM's
the brake action seem more normal.

It seems like the vac. assist may be the place to start looking.
Any recommendation on chasing this issue down, are welcome.
