Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to give a quick heads up for anyone who is suffering a slow oil leak that is difficult and or expensive to repair on a high mileage car. I have a rear main seal leak that persisted after the PCV replacement, etc... and it was getting to the point where I was using 2 quarts of oil per 3000 mile oil change (under the car was a mess). For the last 100k miles I've been using Mobil 1 10w30 synthetic but since switching to Castrol GTX 10w40 High Mileage (non synthetic) I'm down to less than half a quart per 3000 mile oil change (about 10k miles of this regimen). It still leaks a bit but the oil spot in my garage is actually a small spot now not a huge mess. Under the car is significantly cleaner.
I also recently checked the OBD1 for actual mileage and we are coming up on 300k for the old wagon. It spends most of it's time on the 40 mile daily commute for my wife or back and forth to the ski area on the weekends.
