Car died and won't start 850 98

My wife was stopped at a light and her red 850 turbo died and now will not start. Starter and lights all come on. cranks real strong. some very small "kicks". feels like no fuel. 60K on car. never any problem before this. It was pretty hot today and the fuel was very low (light came on). dumped in 5 gallons and waited for it to cool off suspecting a vapor lock. I also suspect a fuse (I had an '83 245DL with the infamous fuse problem). any similar stories with a fix?
