Power window & electrical problem (long) S80 2001

My new S80 is a week old.

Today, while waiting in line at the drive through pharmacy, my driver's side power window control failed to activate the window. I depressed the control to lower the driver window and nothing happened. I tried it several times and it suddenly began working. When I drove off and tried to raise the window it failed to operate. I pulled off and tried it several times and found that the pod would not operate any of the other windows. However, the other windows would work from their individual controls.

I also pulled up and down on the door lock and it did not activate any of the other doors.

I drove quickly to the dealer with the window down. In route I heard the doors lock and found that the window would work. When I got to the dealer I lowered the window and but it would not raise, until, of course, the service writer came out....when it promptly worked. It continued to work every time the service writer cycled the window.

He told me that if he kept it all they would do is find the same thing in the service department and not fix anything.

I purchased gas and remotely locked the car to go inside. When I returned I unlocked the car remotely and opened the drive's door. The alarm sounded. I stopped the alarm with the remote. I guess that when I "locked" the car the driver's side lock did not have power and did not go down. When I "unlocked" the car it did nothing since it did not have power and was never locked, but when I opened the door whatever tiggers the alarm still worked.

When I got home the homelink would not open the garage door. (the green light did not light) Luckily I still had the old sun visor model in the glove box. When I got inside I touched the homelink to begin the reprogramming (assuming it has lost its memory when the short occurred). It worked and lowered the garage door.

It's beginning to heat up here in NC. The line at the pharmacy was slow. Could this be a heat-related problem.

I'm guessing that something heated up standing in the queue at the pharmacy and cooled down in route to the dealer.

Needless to say I'm a little ticked off.....Ideas???

Thanks,

Sam
