that clunking noise at the rear of your car S40-V40 2001

I've heard alot of complaints about this and I thought i'd contribute this to the forum here. I never heard this clunking noise while my car was still stock suspension wise, but I did hear what sounded like a metel to metal rubbing at the rear after I installed my thicker anti sway bar. Problem: The exhaust pipe was too low (or the bar was too thick) and so the pipe is resting on the sway bar and well, when the car moves up and down it makes noise. I can't hear it unless it's totally quite and I have the radio off, but other than that I never hear it. Here's my assumption, the sway bar that's on there is currently a pansy little bar that I can flex with my hands, (yes very poor excuse for a sway bar) , here's what might be happening, perhaps you guys are hitting these bumps just right so that the suspension travels enough on the rear a-arm and the sway bar hits the exhaust pipe? Crawl under the car and look for yourself, is it too close? I didn't really look at this when I swapped mine out but when I heard the noise and crawled under to investigate that was the problem (with the aftermarket sway bar)

thanks to Buzzzzzz for warning me of this earlier and then me not really paying attention to what I was reading! LOL!! Have a great weekend everyone
