2.9 motor S80

I/m looking at replacing my '91 940 GLE 16V and do not have any Volvo FWD ownership experience.
I have seen several 2002 to 2004 S80 models with the 2.9 twin turbo T6 engine for sale in my area. I would be looking at one with less than 100,00 miles or 160,000 km. I am not familiar with this motor and am wondering whether it is as reliable as the 5 cylinder found in the other S and V models of the same years. The only reason I am looking at the S80 model is the cost. Anywhere from $2,900 to $5,500.

I am really looking for a V70 but they are quick sellers. Usually $5,500 and up, and more mileage. The 5 cylinder motor seems to be able to run for several hundred thousand miles with proper maintenance from what I have read and seen for sale.

I am looking at long term use rather than go fast factor. I live 1 hour away from my nearest Volvo dealer and usually do most regular maintenance myself.
Is there a difference that would make it obvious as to what I should focus on?

One of the concerns that I have is the addition of modern technology that only a dealer can maintain. Any input would be appreciated.
