2002 XC V70-XC70 2000

Any news so far with the 2002 XC? Any mechanical changes? Colors? Haldex AWD? Or will it remain as is with a cost increase?

I'm asking because I'm thinking of giving back my problematic 2000 XC this fall (is it easy to get out of a lease when it should only end in 2003?) for the newer platform which supposedly have 65% stiffer suspension. I really need a tough wagon. Hopefully the new ones won't have half of the following items I've had to deal with in only 1.5 years of ownership:

- Piston oil cooling relief valve making noise at idle - warranty fix.

- Tailgate wouldn't lock in cold weather - Volvo recall, fixed.

- Vibration at 90 Km/h - Torque tube bushing replaced - warranty fix.

- Numerous turn signal bulbs and headlamp bulbs burning - warranty fix.

- 3 times to the dealer for the gas door not opening - replaced window switches, lubed gas door, replaced door motor all under warranty... Still, the gas door wouldn't open on a first attempt. NOT Fixed.

- Front suspension clunking noise - stabilizer bar links (left and right hand side) replaced @ 15,000Kms, warranty fix, reoccurred @ 30,000Kms! Both need a replacement once again. Suspension design flaw? Dealer can't help me with providing more solid parts. NOT fixed.

- Front passenger side door lock actuator failed, warranty repair.

- 2 times to the dealer for gear oil smell - front bevel gear seal needs replacement, gear oil is leaking! warranty repair.

- Leaking coolant fluid from reservoir - replaced hose clamp, warranty fix.

- Creeking noise coming from front end when turning - front axle greeb lock-tite update (TSB), warranty repair.

- Harsh transmission shifts - dealer flushed whole transmission oil, warranty fix. Partially fixed since 3rd to 4th gear upshift is still rough. NOT fixed.

- The air pump had started making noise. Will bring it as an issue soon.

- Intermittently, the engine would crank for a good 6-7 seconds without starting. Starts on second attempt. Dealer performed gas pump test and checked for codes, they still have no clue. NOT resolved.

Okay, every manufacturer have their share of problems, however I've never suspected that much from Volvo.. very surprised! What will it be when warranty expires?

Thoughts?
