I have seen this problem posted a few times, it happened on my own wagon. I decided to tackle the door latch/automatic door lock mechanism and fabricate my own part and document the process to make it available to others.
Well after 4 hrs. of slow/tedious work I gave up in fabricating a new part, instead I pull the flemsy red plastic lever out of the latch mechanism and fixed a piece of cotter pin (hot) into the remaining plastic. It doesn't look beatiful but it works great and it is stronger than originally was.
I spent a lot of time because I took pictures of the process and I took the door apart to look for the broken piece to take measurements, no luck finding the broken piece, so I had to take the other door apart.
If your time is worth more than $30.00 an hour, buy the latch and replace it.
Anybody interested in placing the pictures and procedures on the web?
