I recently bought the car (1997 855 GLT) and love it more than any car I have driven, I enjoy driving it. However, with this atrocious fuel mileage, I feel horrible every time I get in it. I am suffering from very poor gas mileage, I feel that maybe my engine has been run for a long time on 87 octane fuel.. I have no real records of the history of the car, so I can't be sure.. I've been reading a lot about this discussion, and I need to know is that if I was to clean out the engine, (ie. seafoam, engine flush, injector cleaner) will clean out all the carbon build-up and gunk, and fill up from then on if my mpgs will improve? Money is certainly a big issue as I am an in-debt student, and as long as I have to spend less time at the pump, I'll be happy.
I know driving style is a big play in this equation, but let's just say for the sake of this topic I drive as fuel efficiently as possible.
