What's the deal with different fuel pump diameters? 850

IPD shows two different fuel pumps on their website as suitable replacements, one with a slightly larger diameter than the other. They claim you won't know which one you have until you pull the original out. When I examine the product pictures closely, it looks like the same pump, but one has a sleeve around it to give a larger OD.

FCP Groton sells a generic pump with what looks like a sleeve you can slide on the pump to increase the OD. They make no comments on their website about different sizes though, only that this fits all 850's.

Anyone have more info on this? Can I get the FCP solution and use the sleeve if needed?
