So last night I drove from Western MA to Stowe VT in a pretty nasty storm (worth it for today’s powder!). But, the weirdest thing happened. At 55-60mph, if I moved into the left lane to pass and it had a few inches of heavy wet snow, a loud whining noise would come from the front end for a few seconds. It didn't always happen, but happened 4 times or so. When it first happened to me, it sounded like electrical interference from my stereo, such as when a stereo is not grounded properly and the engine revs cause whining through the system. But when I shut off the stereo I realized where it was coming from. I've driven all winter in several really bad storms and this has never happened. Even weirder, when I got to my friends house who has a duplicate of my car, he said it just happened to him for the first time last night too!!! He lives up there and it's been one of the snowiest winters, but it didn't hit him until last night. I have 7600 miles on the car. We are both totally perplexed.
