Howling sound at 2,000 rpm? V70-XC70

2004 V70 2.5T which just had the water pump, timing belt, serp belt and all tensioners done. After picking up from shop, I hear this howling sound coming on around 1600 and fading around 2200 rpm--sounds like the support bearing howl on my past 240's and 960 in the middle of winter. If I am in park or neutral and run revs to that rpm range, nothing. Going down the road and holding the revs in this range and move to neutral, nothing, but as soon as back in D or 3rd, the sound returns!!

I thought it might be a bearing in AC or steering pump or alternator since new serp belt and tensioner are now on, but how can that be if I can only hear it when in gear. Any thoughts or help wold be appreciated. Thanks.
