I recently purchased a 2008 S80 T6 AWD over the summer. Just went out for a fun snow drive, we have about 7 inches of snow right now in CT, fairly wet heavy the first few inches also, just enough so that it hits the bottom of the car.
Anyway, wow! This car is fantastic in the snow. I'm running Continental extreme contact DWS tires with about 500 miles on them. I figured I am tired of swapping tires twice a year, so cleaned up some garage space and got these instead.
I can really feel the stability control kick in nicely when putting the rear end out (on purpose), car stays in control the entire time. Of course there is no bending the laws of physics, so I was out to test the limits in a safe isolated area. Maybe only test that was lacking was stopping, the car's ABS kicks in fine but usually finding the real traction limit without abs helps stop faster in a straight line. So probably this is a bit heavier than I thought, and dedicated snow tires would have made a big difference here.
Anyway, just thought I'd post this. Usually I would post only when I have a problem (former Saab 9-5 Aero owner), but so far this car has 0 issues at all. Now at 51,000 miles (bought at 44,000 miles).
Enjoy!
