Problem Starting 850 1993

This morning I tried to start my car and everything appeared to look and sound like it normally does, except that it would not start. I tried about a half a dozen times, came in and read the postings and saw the one about the "headers" and holding the throtle down half way; I tried that and after several times it started. I let it idle several minutes, drove it around the block, and then shut it off and restarted it several times with no problems. I let it sit until this afternoon, then attempted to start it, resulting in the same problem and fix stated above. When I said everything looked like it normally does, I meant that all the lights on the dashboard were coming on and/or blinking. The one difference, however, was that I noticed the shift arrow light blinking, along with the econ/sport lights on the shifter console (everything was normal after it started). When I got the car started the second time in the afternoon, the shift arrow continued to blink while the car was running. I shut it off, let it sit about 10-15 minutes, and then restarted it with no problems and no blinking lights. I live in central Indiana and the weather has been in the 20s - 30s for a good part of this winter. I bought the car new and have always lived in this area; this is the first time that I have experienced the above problem. Is this symptomatic of the header and/or PNP switch postings that I have been reading, or could it be something else?
