I am going completely nuts. I rigged some wires so I could get the codes from the OBDII plug. For the ECC unit I get 2-3-1 and 2-3-3. I haven't checked out the drivers side 2-3-1 yet, but the defrost damper has driven me completely bonkers.
Here is what I have done:
Wrapped/glued/clamped the plastic damper that cracked and almost fell off. I took the motor apart, checked it with a 9V battery (works), put the motor back in with the damper set to floor rather than defrost.
Reset the motor gearing so that is in the floor position, it was in full defrost or clockwise prior to pulling it out.
When attempting to clear the codes, the motor does move the damper a mm or two towards the defrost setting, and then resets the code.
What am I doing wrong? It is not a bad ground or short circuit if the motor moves, or is it? Should I stop at a bone yard and get a 'new' motor? Is it time to do the driver's vent and then do the 4-9-9-9 driving thing?
